Pa'u Zoto Zhaan is a tenth level priestess of her plant race, Delvian. Zhaan was imprisoned by the Peacekeepers where she begins her journey aboard Moya trying to help D'Argo and Rygel release Moya from a PK control collar and escape. She is considered somewhat excentric and a bit of a renegade even among her own kind on her homeworld.

As a plant and Pa'u, Zhaan expresses many acceptional arts such as the ability to take pain away from others and share in a Delvian form of bonding called "Unity". The solar flares of suns also cause Delvian's what is known as photogasms. On a few rare occasions Zhaan has shown other different arts such as seeming to disappear within forest foilage and once manipulated her hand to squeeze it out of a shackle. In starvation Delvian's apparently develop buds over their body which releases a pollen spore into the air, meant to stun prey for the Delvian to be able to eat it. Otherwise they are vegitarious. As a Pa'u, Zhaan also experienced what is known as Delivan madness, where these Delvians succumb to an illness within their darkside.

Once capable of cruelty, Zhaan dedicated herself to becoming a Pa'u, restoring her devotion to become the next level for a while, until the crew and Moya prooved to be a greater priority to her. In Aeryn's death, Zhaan renders the aid of her beloved Stark to bring Aeryn back and expresses her Unity in order to provide Aeryn enough strength. In doing so however, Zhaan begins to become ill and deteriorate. She needs to find an Earth type planet with rich soils in which to recover. As events lead into Moya colliding with a Pathfinder ship, Zhaan finds the only solution to keep Moya alive is for one of the crew to sacrifice themselves. Zhaan does so willingly and dies in the explosion of the Pathfinder ship.
